Project Case Studies
Three projects in more detail — the starting point, what we did, and what changed.
Challenge
Two-bedroom apartment, Subang Jaya
A newly purchased apartment with awkward open-plan living. The dining area had no visual separation, the study nook was unused, and the lighting made the space feel flat throughout the day.
Solution
Comprehensive design package. We redefined zones through furniture placement and a partial partition, reorganised lighting into three circuits with different purposes, and introduced a warmer material palette to soften the overall feel.
Outcome
The study nook became the most used area in the apartment. The client described the living room as feeling twice the size. Project completed in 6.5 weeks.

Challenge
Boutique café, Petaling Jaya
A new café owner wanted an interior that read distinctively on Instagram but still functioned efficiently for service. Previous design concepts felt either too staged or too generic.
Solution
Concept development plus comprehensive design. We identified three visual focal points for photography, designed a service flow that reduced kitchen-to-table distance by 30%, and selected materials that age naturally and maintain their character over time.
Outcome
The café opened on schedule and reached average occupancy within its first month. The owner has since been asked by three other F&B operators where the fit-out was designed.

Challenge
Semi-detached home, Damansara
A family of four had a design they liked but an unreliable contractor situation. The renovation had stalled after two months, and materials already purchased were not matching the original specification.
Solution
Project coordination from mid-renovation. We assessed what had been done, replaced two materials that didn't meet specification, restructured the contractor schedule, and managed the remainder of procurement and installation directly.
Outcome
Project completed 9 weeks after Tessera took over coordination. The family moved in on the rescheduled date. Total rework costs were kept below MYR 4,000 through early identification of the mismatched materials.
